The Olympic-Legacy.com website is devoted to the legacy of the ancient Olympic games and how that legacy inspired and influenced the revival of the Games in 1896. Photoenhancements.com was commissioned by AvantiLogic.com to author and produce the Olympic-Legacy.com website. On assignment in Greece, the Photoenhancements team visited the site of ancient Olympia and the Panathenaic stadium in Athens. As we delved into the research, we were overwhelmed by what we discovered and the subject matter became very close to our hearts. We are grateful to Avanti Logic for the unforgettable experience and for sponsoring this landmark website. One example of our animated graphics for the site appears at left. Each element of this image has symbolic meaning. The pallet of warm colors conveys the essence of fire, sacred to ancient Greek mythology. The Olympic flame, an ancient ritual, plays an integral role in the modern Olympic games. The globe denotes the international scope of the Olympic movement. The glyph of the Greek flag pays tribute to Greece, the birthplace of the Olympic games. The twelve stars that embrace the globe represent the members of the European Union. The Olympic motto appears in Latin and English (hover mouse over button to translate). The bottom button links to AvantiLogic .com, offical sponsor of the site. There are only two elements in motion: the globe, which denotes the passage of time and the Olympic flame, which represents the ancient Olympic ideal that still burns brightly today. |
