Though the home is built using conventional construction techniques and materials, the building exterior is attractive and comfortable with itself. The house is stretched around a courtyard that is visible as soon as guests step through the front door, bringing the outside in.

The svelte indoor spaces extend to the lush garden spaces. This loggia or porch with a fireplace and large doors supports comfortable Northwest outdoor living. Early in the design process, the Owner requested a sheltered, elegant outdoor space for extended comfortable conversation. The kitchen is open to the dining and living room, so cooking is part of the entertainment and everyone is welcome like family.

The broad overhangs helter the home and the good windows keep energy bills low.
