Good Plumbing Cage
A Good Plumbing Cage is an entry-level water distribution system. It includes a minimum set of features, enough to effectively and safely accomplish its task while keeping the price down. A good plumbing water distribution system allows for:
- 20gpm cotton media sediment filtration where solids and heavy minerals can be captured and disposed before obvious lodging into kitchen and bath plumbing fixtures, mechanical equipment, and more.
- One-zone of drinking hot water delivery with adjustable set-point manual temperature control. This is primarily accomplished with 3-way thermostatic mixing, temperature indication devices, proper isolation and more. The mechanical blending of hot and cold water safely allows increased duration of hot water delivery to plumbing taps without increasing the size of hot water vessel.
- Three-port hot water recirculation (5) station for 3 basic plumbing fixture groupings (6), or 3 individual plumbing fixtures, or any combination. This is primarily accomplished with a fresh water stainless steel circulator, check valve, temperature indicator device, individual return loop balancing and isolation, dual fixture stop valves and more. This provides instant hot water delivery.
Better Plumbing Cage
A Better plumbing cage includes more modern plumbing features resulting in a greater level of hygienic and comfort features. A better plumbing water distribution system allows for:
- Carbon block purified water filter for multiple purified water drinking outlets.
- 5-port hot potable water return recirculation station with more outlets and expansion capabilities.
- NFPA-13d (7), Fire Protection System compliance. Quick take-off for fire sprinklers.
- 2-zones of potable hot water delivery with low temperature to house plumbing groupings and hi temperature to dishwasher(s). Dishwashers provide greater sanitation and operate more efficiently with 140 F. degree hot water and up.
- 4-port pre-sediment cold water control station for a team of outside hosebibbs. This separation will prevent the unnecessary waste of treated water while lawn watering, car washing, and pet bathing.
- Dog/car wash station with manual adjustable wide hot and cold temperature ranges. This is primarily accomplished with a pressure balanced mixing valve, check valves, temperature indicator device, and more.
- Lawn irrigation station with approved type back flow prevention (8), manual adjustable flow control valve, and built in strainer with blow down flush provides quick and easy hook up to any lawn irrigation piping network.
Best Plumbing Cage
The best cage includes every aspect of good and better plus:
- Lawn irrigation with simple programmable timer control system or advanced Internet remote access.
- Light hot water radiant space heating with necessary analogue electronics built in. Simple strategy with specific wall mount with programmable thermostats are perfect for radiant heating. Single or multiple zones of radiant floor heating, fan-coil hydronic air (9).
- Three-temperature zones of potable hot water delivery. One zone for adult bathroom, one for the children's bathroom and one for the high-temperature dishwater appliance. This allows safety for children while allows higher tempurature for the adult bathrooms.
- Three-stage water treatment by reverse osmosis and, or UV lighting for rural areas without municipal water supply. This complete fresh water solution is perfect for boats, vacation homes, restaurants, nursing homes, and any structure anywhere in the world.

- 5) Hot water recirculation: Continuos or programmed circulation of potable hot water to provide instant hot water to plumbing taps. This requires a Plumbing Cage and piping network. Instant hot water at the taps will inherently save water and adds convenience by eliminating the duration period wasted waiting for hot water. Recirculation of hot water also prevents bacteria growth from long periods of stagnate water. This feature is normally recommended after 50 feet of hot water piping from the source of hot water production.
- 6) Plumbing Fixture Groupings: The individual congregation of plumbing fixtures throughout a habitable building structure. From a design-point-of-view the arrangement of bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, etc. will dictate the actual Cage selection and piping network design.
- (7) NFPA 13-b: National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.) provides universal standards in fire protection systems for any building structure. This standard set by NFP8 13-b residential single family sets forth a combination plumbing system that provides water for fast acting deluge sprinkler heads covering at least emergency exits. Plumbing Cages when specified provide compliance in all aspects. It is designed to prevent negligence from occurring. If a problem should occur with the water deluge fire protection system repair must be made since the shut-off valve for fire protection and normal household water use are one in the same. If you shut down the water supply to the fire protection system you also shut water to the dwelling occupancy. Forcing the need for repair. Blueprint always provides additional replacement parts in all sales of NFPA 13-b compliant Plumbing Cages. This feature is dedicated to a family member who met fatal demise from a building that was allowed to operate without restoration of the buildings fire protection system.
- (8)Back flow prevention: Protects building occupants from non-potable water from entering potable water distribution systems through an ever-potential vacuum that is inherent in all plumbing systems. This feature prevents water contamination and protects the overall health of human civilization.
- (9) Fan-coil hydronic air: Sometimes referred to as Air Handler Units (AHU's). Warm comfortable forced hot water heated air at different fan speeds can cost-effectively satisfy space heating requirements. While still a forced air system (instead of natural convection) it varies tremendously from traditional forced air duct systems. Fan coils can be found in central duct systems or with minimum space impact 2"x4" wall-mount units that provide zone control and eliminate duct work. Someone coughs in one room it doesn't pass through a ventilation system into another room. Individual fan-coil units recirculate air applicable to room-by-room design. These individual fan units confine recirculation to applicable zoning strategy. When budget demands this can be the lowest initial up-front investment alternative with energy-efficiency combined. It should be noted forced air promoted the enhancement of dust and other air-borne particles to circulate thought the interior atmosphere. natural convection of mass-type radiant heated is more comfortable.
